White

It is safe to say that I like to use white in my drawings. Here is a study of the nature of white. I wanted to challenge, or explore the assumption of white being a representative of "silence" or subtle in nature, as a colour or non-colour.

John Cage's "4'33" was supposedly inspired by the White Paintings of Robert Rauschenberg and of Zen Buddhism. Not to go into much detail, but from what I understand, they were both studies on silence, or how far one could push the idea of nothing. They argue that there is no such thing as silence. Even if your surrounding peers are not talking, or if you are looking at a blank canvas, you still hear your body's organs working and see dust particles casting shadows. Or as Cage described, the White Paintings (not unlike 4'33), were like "mirrors of the air."

White is courageous.
