There's just the right mix of wit, sentiment, and love in these images. Sly's wonderfully ambiguous Material Experiments, reminiscent of Abstract Expressionism I feel, invite us to explore the psychological within the work's textured layering. The 3D collage (above) is so Jan Svankmajer, I love it (except without the crawling raw meat). I definitely want to see more of that! In a world that is so quickly becoming minimal in every aspect, it's important to keep making works like these, for where would we be without delicious things to look at? We'd be dead. DEAD I tell you.
